Kansas State Fair
September 19
You are invited to participate in Kansas CMSA’s State Fair competition! Number of entries is limited to 40 so pre-register to ensure your spot.
This will be a four stage variance to the regular six stage rules. Buckles will be awarded for top men’s and woman’s shooter and top men’s and Woman’s Kansas shooter.
Period clothing is greatly appreciated but regular CMSA dress code is acceptable.
Negative Coggins test and health papers with in last 30 days will be required on all horses entering the fair grounds. Livestock check in location is on Severance Street between 17th Street and 23rd Street, for which will be open from 5 a.m. to midnight. See attached sheet.
Please note that due to the nature of this event individuals will not be allowed to have a non-compete horse. This will be our only event that we ask every person shooting to compete.
Also, for safety of spectators and participants alike, ABSOLUTELY no live ammunition on the fair grounds – this includes in belts as per CMSA rules. In addition, we ask that no person have blank or empty ammunition on person. We ask that you respect this request or we will be forced to ask you to leave.

Where: Kansas State Fair Grounds in Hutchinson, Kansas (Plum Street entrance.) The indoor arena is located on the east side of the fair grounds.
Per Day Entry Fees:
$100.00 for Adult and Junior classes with $50 going toward payback
$ 5.00 for Wranglers
Event times on each day:
Mandatory Safety Meeting: 1:30 p.m.
Shoot Time: 2:00 p.m.
Facilities: There are stalls available on the State Fair Grounds for those interested in coming prior to Sunday. Please note that the day of the event is the last day of the state fair. We ask that you make your stall arrangements by contacting 620-669-3600 or utilizing their website www.kansasstatefair.com. Stall arrangements must be made by August 15th.

Horses, Donkeys & Mules: All horses, donkeys & mules must be accompanied by a health certificate issued within 30 days of exhibit and a VS 10-11 form indicating a negative EIA (coggins) test within the previous twelve months. Foals, six months of age and younger, accompanying their negative testing dams, are exempt from EIA test requirements. These two papers must be made available to officials of the Kansas Animal Health Department at inspection prior to entering Fairgrounds or upon request. A valid "Horse Passport" may be used in lieu of a health certificate. If a passport is used, a negative EIA test within six months is required.
LIVESTOCK HEALTH PAPERS CHECK POINT: All Livestock must be inspected and have health papers issued prior to arrival. Health papers will be checked by officials of the Kansas Animal Health Department before entering the Fairgrounds. The inspection booth will be located east of the Fairgrounds at the Fairgrounds Water Park. Enter parking lot from Severance Street between 17th Ave. and 23rd Ave. Access Severance Street from 17th Ave. Daily check-in hours will be 5:00 a.m. to midnight. After your papers are inspected and approved, the officials will provide a signed release that will allow you entry onto the Fairgrounds. The Kansas Animal Health Department reserves the right to inspect or test any animals on the Fairgrounds if necessary.
No stall reservations will be taken over the phone. Stall reservation form must be filled out and faxed or mailed to the Kansas State Fair by August 15. Stalls are limited to 1 horse or 2 miniature horses or 1 mare with colt at side. Any other stall arrangements need to be approved by the stalling superintendent first.

Stalls are limited to 1 horse or 2 miniature horses or 1 mare with colt at side. Any other stall arrangement needs to be approved by the Stalling Superintendent first. Breeds are assigned to barns by the Kansas State Fair Staff according to barn clean-up and preparation schedule. All stalls rented the day of the show will need to be paid at that time. Exhibitors requesting to be stalled near each other should send reservation forms together.
Bedding: In the Horse & Mule department, only bedding sold by The Kansas State Fair may be used. All stalls must have bedding. Bedding is $3.50 per bale of straw and $6.00 per bale of chips/shavings. An additional $20.00 per stall will be assessed for stalls bedded with any material not provided and sold by The Kansas State Fair. Bedding can be purchased in advance on the Horse Reservation Form or at the time the stall is unlocked by the office personnel. Beef Cattle are bedded on bulk bedding provided by the fair. Tie out time is 6:00 p.m. Dairy Cattle are bedded on straw provided by the fair. Exhibitors may purchase extra bedding if needed. Goats, Sheep and Swine are bedded on chips provided by the fair. Exhibitors may purchase extra bedding if needed.
