Description

Come and join us at the 9th annual Travis Quarter Horses shoot near Creston, Iowa. Enjoy three great days of shooting in the hills of Southwest Iowa. Travis Quarter Horses is sponsoring 10 buckles to be given away over the combined two days of shooting. JTJ Guns is also sponsoring a buckle for the Cavalry Class. We will be using two arenas again this year.

We will start on Friday night with Cavalry at 5:00pm, with rifle and demos to follow. Saturday, we will start main match at 9:00am, and will run 4 stages. We will start with Shotgun at 9:00am on Sunday, followed by 2 main match stages. Come in early on Friday morning and do some trail riding or fishing in the nearby ponds. The Travis Quarter Horses mares and colts will be on display as well.

Saturday night, we will have a potluck for all of our shooters and friends. The Travis families will provide table service, meat, and drink. All are welcome and side dishes are appreciated.

Following supper on Saturday night will be the Travis Quarter Horses 4 and 5-year-old classes. Both classes will be run just as we've done in the years past. We will run 2 pistol stages for each age division. Each stage will start with the 4-year-olds, followed by the 5-year-olds. These classes are open to any 4-year-old and 5-year-old horses that were bred or raised by Travis Quarter Horses. It will be a lot of fun to see who brings home the prizes! The winner of our 4-year-old class will take come a custom TQH saddle pad and $1,000. The winner of our 5-year-old class will take home a custom TQH saddle pad and $500. NEW THIS YEAR are prizes for 2nd & 3rd place of each age division! Cost to enter each class is $100. No gender, level, or senior splits.

There will be limited stalls and a few electric spots that can be arranged ahead of time by calling Bruce Travis (641-344-4245). Otherwise, there is plenty of room to dry camp and porta-pen your horses next to your trailers at no charge. There is one bathroom and a shower available on site for use by all shooters and their guests.
