One Day Shoot at Pacific County Fairgrounds located in Menlo, Washington located between Pe Ell and Raymond on Hwy 6.
These adorable fairgrounds that has been around for 123 years, and the grounds are clean and cute. Friends of the Fair are trying to promote attendance with mounted shooting as their main attraction on Saturday, August 23rd.
From I-5 travel 45.2 miles west on Hwy 6 towards Raymond. There should be sandwich boards set out on Friday afternoon for CONTESTANTS ONLY to enter fairgrounds or campgrounds.
To park at the Fairgrounds, take a left onto Bullard, then a right on Viking Way to Gate H. A fairground representative will be there to help you park.
Parking at the fairgrounds is limited. There are 8 spaces that measure 100" from Bullard to the arena. There are 8 spaces that measure 60" from Viking Way to the arena. 5 spaces that measure 200' from Viking Way to the panels. Parking is first-come, first-serve. There are electrical and water hook-ups for free. Please know that these spaces are tight and you will not be able to spread out, especially if you are self-penning too.
To camp at The Chunky Squirrel, take a right onto Bullard. Follow the dirt road for .1 mile to a large beautiful open field. There is plenty of room to spread out and self-pen for about 15- 20 big rigs. There is water located in the corner of the field. Do not camp past the sunflower border. Dry camping is $25.00 per night. You will contact the club to comfirm your stay at The Chunky Squirrel and pay at sign up.
You can ride on Bullard to the fairgrounds. Hwy 6 is a two-lane road to cross.
If you want your horse to be in a stall, there is a mandatory, free vet check that will occur on Friday, August 22. Tentatively, the hours are 5:00-7:00 pm. There are only 13 stalls currently. Unfortunately, I've been told horses can not be stalled unless vetted. So if you arrive beforehand, horse needs to be tied at trailer until vetted to be stalled. This is a pacific county mandate.
If you are only there for the day, you can park on Viking Way. Or if we can squeeze you into the fairgound property we will. Please know that this is a paved road.
The arena has ties on all the wooden posts. There is also water at the arena too - so bring a bucket if you want your horse to have water.
Please messages us for more information.
THIS IS A PRE-PAY EVENT - FUNDS DUE NO LATER THAN AUGUST 10th or your spot will be released if there is a waiting list. You may enter additional events (i.e. shotgun/clean shooter, etc) during the day of registration of the event. We are encouraging wranglers to participate with a $5.00 entry fee per wrangler. Wranglers are NOT included in the count of 35 participants. Contact Erica Larson 360.259.7156 and send checks payable to SSMS - PO Box 242, Rainier, WA 98576.
Friends of the Fair are encouraging fair goers to dress circa 1860s thru 1905 to tie in with our event. Fair attractions will be going on with music, food, animals and fun. This event is to promote our sport in the community. Hopefully, this event will draw interest from fair attendees & grow our sport in the PNW.
