NATIONAL WESTERN STOCK SHOW SHOWDOWN DETAILS

This event is about Cowboy Mounted Shooting, promoting our sport and educating the public! 

Do to time constraints and the desire to showcase mounted shooting as not only challenging, exciting, fast paced, but also a family affair where every level of rider is welcome to participate, the event will not be open for registration on CMSA.  To keep things fair, what we have come up with this year is a way to qualify for your spot at NWSS.  Those who qualify will have first option to participate and if they are unable to participate than their spot will move to the next person in line and so on. Qualification will be based on yearend points accumulated at Colorado Mounted Thunder events by CMT members. The top 9 men and women in AAA division, top 7 men and women in the AA division, and the top 5 men and women in the A division will be contacted one week after CMT’s last shoot on October 1, 2023.  You will then have until October 20, 2023 to send in your deposit of $80 to hold your spot.  The deposit goes towards the main match. The event is occurring during the week and we know it can be challenging for people to participate.  If you know you will not be able to participate before the cutoff date, we ask that you reach out to us so that we can contact the next person in line.  After December 8, 2023 your deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. With limited spots available we want to insure filling every spot with participates willing to commit.

Details on parking and stalls will be coming later.  Parking is a challenge for everyone who shows at stock show and the volunteers and employees work hard to have things in place and make it as easy as possible. Please show kindness and patience. No negative comments will be tolerated. We are excited to have the opportunity to run and gun at the National Western again!

We will be paying back with CMSA software. Day 1 is 50% of your entry fee paid back with NO overall or reserve payout. Day 2 will be ALL added money ($3,000 total).  The same horse ridden for the main match on Day 1 needs to ridden on Day 2.  If your horse comes up with metabolic issues, lameness, or unforeseen problems you will need to notify the office by 8:00 am on Day 2 to request to ride an axillary horse and evaluation. This event does not count for CMSA points since it is not open to sign up. Shotgun, rifle, and cavalry entries will be limited to competitors riding in the main match.
